Just the Facts

Queensland is the second largest state.

Early settlers in this state came from Britain and Europe. Today, many people coming to this state are from Southeast Asia.
Wallaman Falls is the Australia's tallest waterfall.
One half of the state has a tropical climate and there are rainforests on the Cape York Peninsula.
The eastern coast is surrounded by the Great Barrier Reef. The coral reef is the largest in the world.
The Great Barrier Reef, Sunshine Coast, and Gold Coast are all popular places to visit.  It is popular to surf and scuba dive in these areas.
Queensland is known as Australia's "sunshine state."
The tree kangaroo lives in this state as well as 572 species of birds and 1600 species of fish.
Almost all of Australia's sugar is produced in this state. Sugar is their main product to sell to other countries, and tropical fruits grow all along the coast.
There are 8 universities, 32 colleges and over 1700 primary and secondary schools in this state.
