Internet Safety for Students

*         Never give out any personal information about your family, or yourself with out your parent’s permission! This includes:

·        Your first and last name

·        Your address

·        Your telephone number

·        Your school’s name and location

·        Your age

·        Your parent’s telephone number and address at work

 *         Report any pictures, or language you find on a web site to your parents, or teacher that makes you feel uncomfortable.

 *         Never send pictures of yourself, or your family, unless you have the permission of your parents. Remember you do not have the authority to send pictures of other people.

 *         Understand that some people online pretend to be someone else. Sometimes they pretend to be kids, when they are really grownups.

 *         Never agree to meet someone in person that you have met online.

 *         Use only web sites selected or approved by your teachers and parents. Refer to the library web page (www.buckleycountryday.org/library) for safe search engines.

 *         Do not fill out any forms online to play games, or order anything unless you check with your parents first.

 *         Do not give your password to anyone (even your best friend) other than your parents.

 *         Do not open e-mail messages if you do not know the sender. These files could be infected with a virus.

 *         Do not use information you found online and pretend it is yours.

 *         Be careful, not everything online is true.

 *         Remember it is a crime to make threats online.

 *         You are responsible for your behavior when using the Internet. Do not use offensive language, say bad things about other people, and always practice good Netiquette.
