MISSION
The mission of the Hagedorn Library Learning Center is to function as the
information center for exploration and knowledge, a
place where students learn to love literature, and
effectively process and use information in all formats.
Our job is to promote curiosity, reasoning, and
questioning in a comfortable learning environment by
helping students make connections with classroom learning,
information skills, and personal experiences.
To fulfill this mission, we teach students the
necessary skills through resource-based instruction in the
context of curricular learning to find, analyze, and
evaluate information. Our responsibility to the school
community is to work collaboratively with teachers,
administrators, and parents to plan, implement, and
evaluate the learning experience to ensure that all
students become well informed, independent, lifelong
learners. |
Borrowing Information
Circulating books may be borrowed for a two-week period. Students need to
bring them back to the library in order to renew books for another two
weeks. Students with overdue books cannot charge out any books until all
overdue items are returned. All books must be checked out through the
electronic system by the library staff at the circulation desk, and may be
returned at any time during the school day.
Reserve books for class research projects must be
used in the library until 2:30 p.m. A student may
borrow reserve books for overnight use between
2:30 – 3:00 p.m. Any reserve material borrowed
overnight must be returned to the library at 8:30
a.m. the following morning. |
Inter-Library Loan
Books, or articles, may be borrowed from another
school, or local community library if we do not
have it available in our collection. We are also
electronically registered with the New York State
Library System for inter-library loans. You can
request an item by E-mailing the library.
Inter-library loans take about two weeks. |
Birthday Books
The goal of the Birthday Book program is to give the children the
experience of giving on their birthdays. Students are acknowledged for
their gift during an all school assembly each month. In addition
to the birthday bookplate added with the child's name, birth date, and
year of the gift, the book will also be cataloged with a note field with
the same information in the library online catalog.
